Student of the Month, December 2020
The Ballard R-2 School District is pleased to be working in conjunction with the Adrian Optimist Club to honor a Student of the Month for the 2020-21 school year. Student of the Month is selected by the staff of the Ballard R-2 School District using the following criteria: attendance, attitude towards others and school, behavior, leadership, and improvement in or maintenance of good grades.
The Student of the Month for December is Freshman Zach Carpenter, the son of Jill and Jimmy Holteen and Mathew Carpenter.
Zach is active in basketball and hopes to play baseball in the spring. He also enjoys projects and activities in FFA. Outside of school, Zach likes to practice on his ukulele. He enjoys it, but he doesn’t get much time to play on it. Zach likes to be outside practicing basketball and other activities. Zach plans to attend a trade school and then move to further complete a four year degree in Ag Science that includes soil analysis.
The Ballard staff has said: Zach is always willing to help his fellow classmates. He works hard at every task he is given and is a great role model for his peers. Zach’s advice to his classmates is “The game isn’t over until the final buzzer sounds, so don’t give up!”
For Zach’s hard work in school, he is receiving a certificate of recognition from the Adrian Optimist Club and $20.00 in Adrian Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Bucks.”
